University of Exeter Triathlon Club

WHO ARE WE?

We are a student-run club for students at the University of Exeter for students looking to take part in triathlon events. We are open to all ability levels.

We hold three BUCS events per year: duathlon, sprint triathlon, standard triathlon - open to all abilities.

We hold nine training sessions per week including swims, group rides and runs, spin and track, five professionally coached by Pete Wilby Triathlon. We provide our members with access to Athletics' endurance track session and a group ride with cycling weekly.

We run swim training sessions in the outdoor pool at Streatham Campus in Term 3.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT

New and prospective members often struggle with the endless equipment needed to participate and compete in triathlon. This new funding would help massively to allow the club to provide a large amount of the equipment and gear needed to make the club and sport more inclusive and accessible to those who can't afford it.

This would have so many benefits to individuals already in the club but also the club as a whole to help it grow and attract new members put off by the high costs needed to participate in triathlon.

Specifically, we would like to be able to fund 2 club bikes (£500 each), two club bike computers (£250 each), two club helmets, communal swim hats and goggles, and to subsidise University of Exeter-branded tri suit to allow more members to represent the university in races and at BUCS.

HOW WE ARE TACKLING THE CHALLENGE

Due to us already regularly training in swimming, cycling and running, our members would be encouraged to do more endurance training and events to help increase our total miles.

As a club we would organise endurance swim, cycle and running challenges similar to what we have had planned for Movember (45km combined endurance swim, 160km group ride 'Coast to Coast to Coast'(Exmouth to Minehead and back), 60km ultramarathon to Brixham)

For Sports Challenge Week, we would have three extreme endurance events (one in each sport) throughout the week for members to complete on top of regular training. The planned ride would likely be a 240km ride to Lands' End, the swim would include members getting into teams to try swim as far as possible in a set time and the run would be a group marathon effort. All would have shorter options for those less capable.

HELP US SUCCEED

We would love you to donate as much or as little as you are able and any donations are hugely appreciated. Your donation could also help us unlock fundraising challenges which will help us reach our goal even faster (you can see these on the challenges page).

If you are looking to support an individual athlete or challenge, please put a message with your donation saying who!

Alternatively, if you are unable to donate then please do spread the word by signing up as a Challenge Week Ambassador for our club and sharing our social media posts to your own socials so as many people as possible can read about our efforts! OR why not take on your own mileage challenge and ask friends and family to donate to our page to support you (and us!)
