University of Exeter Athletics Club (UoEAC)

WHO ARE WE?

We are an inclusive and friendly club that caters for all events at every level. We have over 150 members and are rapidly growing and improving across all disciplines. The club is overseen by a club-elected student committee, who strive to support all members of the club.

Members of UoEAC have access to a variety of weekly sessions, which support those who are looking to get fit as well as seasoned competitive athletes. Sessions are led by professional and volunteer coaches with the assistance of qualified student coaches.

All members can compete in a range of inter-university competitions including the British University Championships (BUCS).

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO

  • Physio treatment sessions for athletes during high intensity training periods and competitions
  • Transport and accommodation for higher level and national meets
  • Our annual Easter training camp
  • Purchasing higher quality resources to maximise training potential and outcomes
  • Sessions with field event coaches to develop the team

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT

  • Being able to have a travelling physio with us at BUCS would make a major difference on our performances through the rounds. Having to race hard potentially three or four times over two/three days takes a huge toll on the body and having access to treatment would significantly improve recovery time and therefore performance
  • Being about to send our athletes to high-profile, high-performance races would not only raise the profile of the university and our squad (as proved last year by Thomas Crockett's wins) it would also allow them to mix with the best in the country in prep for BUCS races, making us more competitive as a squad.
  • Being able to reduce the cost of our Easter training camp for our members will allow more of our athletes to attend and benefit from the experience as we head into the outdoor season.
  • The south-west has a significant lack of field events coaches and so to provide for these disciplines we have had to send them to groups elsewhere, we would love to be able to afford to bring these coaches to us so that our developing field events team can feel part of the club as a whole.

HOW WE ARE TACKLING THE CHALLENGE

Through sports challenge week we will be adding extra running sessions into the schedule for the week and will be holding spin sessions and swims to build up the miles.

HELP US SUCCEED

We would love you to donate as much or as little as you are able and any donations are hugely appreciated. Your donation could also help us unlock fundraising challenges which will help us reach our goal even faster (you can see these on the challenges page).

If you are looking to support an individual athlete or challenge, please put a message with your donation saying who!

Alternatively, if you are unable to donate then please do spread the word by signing up as a Challenge Week Ambassador for our club and sharing our social media posts to your own socials so as many people as possible can read about our efforts! OR why not take on your own mileage challenge and ask friends and family to donate to our page to support you (and us!)
