Korfball

£150 has been raised from 5 donors.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a student-run Korfball club for students at the University of Exeter.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT

  • BUCS: Travel and accommodation can be very expensive, especially for students, and subsiding this for our third BUCS team will make a massive difference to everyone's budget. Our BUCS players all already pay additional membership fees, so this would make BUCS korfball accessible to 14 players (the third team). Being able to play in BUCS is a major highlight for our members and having three BUCS teams massively aids our recruitment in Fresher's Week.
  • Coaching Qualifications: Having our Head and Vice Coach qualified going into the next academic year will bring a lot of value to our club; an increased knowledge of the sport and strategies for individual and team improvement and morale amongst our coaches would be very beneficial to all our club members. As part of England Korfball, we are often required to have a qualified coach, and this is something our club cannot afford without additional funding.

Exeter Korfball is one of the best korfball University teams in the country, and we perform highly at BUCS, coming 3rd, 1st, and 4th in the last 3 years and national championships! However, with other clubs gaining more funding and recruitment, having three BUCS teams and qualified coaches would massively aid our BUCS campaign and help Exeter Korfball maintain this high performance and hopefully gain more BUCS points in the coming years.

HOW WE ARE TACKLING THE CHALLENGE

We would do a mixture of different exercise so that everyone can participate in a form of exercise that they enjoy. This would include everyone getting together for the weekly Park Run and adding in additional runs. Many of our members cycle so we would organise a group cycle each day to increase mileage and rowing sessions for our regular gym-goers. Different members of our committee would run different events each day encouraging as many people as possible to join in!

Around Sports Challenge Week we are also hoping to do a hiking trip as a club to Snowdonia to raise additional funds. We may have three different levels of this so that there is something for everyone in the club; for example, a day hike up Snowdon, a multi-day hike in Snowdonia, and a team relay run/hike in Snowdonia.

HELP US SUCCEED

We would love you to donate as much or as little as you are able and any donations are hugely appreciated. Your donation could also help us unlock fundraising challenges which will help us reach our goal even faster (you can see these on the challenges page).

If you are looking to support an individual athlete or challenge, please put a message with your donation saying who!

Alternatively, if you are unable to donate then please do spread the word by signing up as a Challenge Week Ambassador for our club and sharing our social media posts to your own socials so as many people as possible can read about our efforts! OR why not take on your own mileage challenge and ask friends and family to donate to our page to support you (and us!)
