University of Exeter Women's Basketball

WHO ARE WE?

We are a student-run club for students at the University of Exeter. We have two BUCS teams, and our 1st Team has an external coach. We cater for both competitive and non-competitive players with two local league teams of BUCS and non-BUCS players.

Our team has had a great success in the last year and a massive club growth, reaching a new high of club members with our 1's team winning Division 1 and fighting for a spot in the Premier Division.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT

  • Support to enhance and deliver a higher level of coaching capability to the team allowing us to build on our successes and maximise team potential.
  • Supporting a higher standard of equipment to ensure training sessions are properly equipped and maximise team potential and ensuring that equipment is stored securely.
  • Due to unforeseen increases in external costs from our governing body, Basketball England, our fees per player have now doubled. Not only is this a struggle for our small club to pay but we are also one of the only AU clubs with an additional cost separate to BUCS fees. Although we are a growing club, we still want to make memberships as affordable as possible for it to be inclusive to all who want to participate in an underrepresented sport for women.

HOW WE ARE TACKLING THE CHALLENGE

Will send out regular messages on our group chat organising group activities such as a long run so our club can complete its miles as a team. Will make regular posts on the Instagram to encourage funding and participation. We plan to also hold a tournament along with a bake sale, like the one we held for Movember, to fundraise for the challenge.

HELP US SUCCEED

We would love you to donate as much or as little as you are able and any donations are hugely appreciated. Your donation could also help us unlock fundraising challenges which will help us reach our goal even faster (you can see these on the challenges page).

If you are looking to support an individual athlete or challenge, please put a message with your donation saying who!

Alternatively, if you are unable to donate then please do spread the word by signing up as a Challenge Week Ambassador for our club and sharing our social media posts to your own socials so as many people as possible can read about our efforts! OR why not take on your own mileage challenge and ask friends and family to donate to our page to support you (and us!)
